CM to speak with PM on Sri Lankan situation

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi expressed concern on the prevailing situation in Sri Lankan where fighting has erupted between the Tamil separatist rebels LTTE, and the Sri Lankan army. This has lead to a huge influx of refugees from the island nation to Tamil Nadu. Karunanidhi told reporters that he would speak to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take steps to ensure peace in Sri Lanka, after an all party meeting with his allies the Congress, PMK, DK, CPM and CPI. The meeting also adopted a resolution condemning the atrocities of the Sri Lankan government on Indian fisherman.

Several leaders from Tamil Nadu like Vijaykanth, and DK chief Veeramani have also expressed concern about the tense situation in Sri Lanka. It looks like the Norwegian back peace process has collapsed and a war between the LTTE rebels and Sri Lankan government looks inevitable. The total lack of trust between the two sides ever since the formation of a new government in Sri Lanka should be blamed for the present situation.
